UNS N06059 (Hastelloy C-59)

Generic Name & Other Designation

Hastelloy C-59®, Alloy 59, Nickel Alloy 59, W.Nr. 2.4605, NiCr23Mo16, NC23Mo16

Product Overview

UNS N06059 (Alloy 59) is an ultra-pure nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy engineered for critical applications where mechanical integrity and corrosion resistance must not be compromised. Featuring 23% chromium and 16% molybdenum with ultra-low elemental carbon and silicon impurities, UNS N06059 sets a high benchmark for thermal stability and corrosion defense.

It is selected for extremely hazardous chemical processes, high-salinity offshore systems, and municipal waste handling where conventional nickel alloys experience localized pitting or HAZ sensitization.

Key Highlights

Ultra-Low Carbon & Silicon: Virtually eliminates phase precipitation during hot working and welding.

Unmatched Pitting Resistance: PREN index exceeds 70, placing it at the pinnacle of Ni-Cr-Mo alloys.

Thermal Aging Resistance: Retains excellent ductility and corrosion resistance even after thermal exposure.

Chloride & Halogen Guard: Superior defense against severe crevice attack in concentrated chloride solutions.
